It appears most of the private day care operators in the province have opted into the NDP government’s new plan.
In Kamloops to tour a child care facility the Minister of State Katrina Chen says 85% of private operations are on board for the program roll out in September.
“We’re looking at in the coming months, once we’ve wrote it out, that a lot of families under an 80 thousand dollar income, will be getting about 10 dollar a day child services. Families under the 45 thousand dollar income will pay very little or close to no cost for their child care services. Because those are the families that are really struggling with whether they should return to work or should they stay at home or look for other arrangements for their child care needs.”
Chen says Kamloops is like other communities around B.C. who are struggling to find enough daycare spaces.
