Kamloops RCMP say a woman who was killed by a dump truck Friday afternoon was from Vernon.
RCMP Staff Sgt. Edward Preto says the commercial vehicle was headed Westbound just after 2:30pm when “an adult woman wandered onto the roadway at the last minute. The driver of the vehicle was unable to stop and struck the female. She died at the scene.”
The truck driver remained at the scene and cooperated with police investigators. Preto says no charges are being contemplated.
The Trans Canada highway was closed until about 6:45pm Friday.
The case has been handed over to the BC Coroner’s Service.
