Sun Peaks is making a significant move to address accomodation needs for seasonal workers.
Resort General Manager Darcy Alexander says the hew housing in the Burfield area will have 41 double rooms with the project valued at $3.5 million.
Darcy notes Sun Peaks draws in some 800 workers in any given ski season.
“That will give us close to 300 beds at that point in time and that is probably, out of our 800 what is that number? That is about 30 percent-ish and I would say as our community grows and our workforce grows that is probably a reasonable number of beds. So it is going to continue as we grow our workforce and as our business grows.”
Alexander says the work on the new housing will be complete by December.
