A First Nations Group known as the Tiny House Warriors is behind a Trans Mountain pipeline expansion protest in the North Thompson River Provincial Park near Clearwater.
Spokesperson Kanahus Manuel says three tiny houses, built over the past 10 months, have now been placed in the proposed pipeline’s path to block its construction.
She says Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has left them no choice, and the pipeline violates their rights and endangers our lands and waters.
“The proposed expansion threatens an ancient village site of our people. There are 37 pit house depressions on this side of the North Thompson in the site that we are on the highway side and on the other side of the river is over one hundred pit house depressions. So this is a major culturally significant area for our people.”
Manuel says, the pipeline is unfundable and unbuildable.
