The Tiny House Warriors protest at the North Thompson River Provincial Park has ended.
RCMP Spokesperson Dawn Roberts says Clearwater Mounties and liaison officers came to the camp to discuss the eviction notice issued to protesters Thursday and arrested organizer Kanahus Manuel, who was released later on a promise to appear before court.
After the arrest, Roberts says RCMP gave the remaining protesters an opportunity to leave on their own accord or face an arrest for Mischief, and the demonstrators decided to pack it in, and left the park.
She says police are still investigating an apparent paint throwing at vehicles on the highway.
“From what we understand, the paint was near the entrance and was being thrown towards the highway. And so we are looking to see whether or not any of the vehicles that may have driven past may have been impacted, and we’ll do a follow up investigation with regards to that.”
That being said, after the discussions, Roberts says things were actually quite peaceful between the protesters and the officers.
