The MLA for Kamloops North Thompson is concerned about more bureaucracy in the B.C mining industry.
“We might as well literally hang out the shingle that says do not bother to invest in British Columbia”
Peter Milobar is pressuring the government to scrap a report suggesting a second-tier of bureaucrats to regulate existing regulators in the resource sector.
He says the government seems intent on wrapping the resource sector businesses in red tape.
Milobar says these new regulations would make a project permitting and approval timeline in the resource sector less certain, slower, and more difficult.
“If all of these recommendations are implemented it will be a stifling crippling blow to the provincial economy.”
Milobar also adds if implemented, taxpayers will be on the hook for regulatory costs previously covered entirely by the private sector.
