The city of Kamloops should pay close attention to the latest census numbers as it plans for the future.
According to the bean counters at B.C Stats, the province had the third largest net gain in population from other provinces in the first quarter of this year behind Ontario and Alberta.
Demographer Ryan Berlin calls that a positive number.
“Quarter one we only had 800 net inter provincial migrants, so we did attract more people from other provinces than wen back the other way. I would say overall, its a positive thing. It represents the 20th consecutive month that we have positive net inflows.”
The population of B.C now has now increased to 4.9 million.
