The Tournament Capital Facilities in Kamloops continue to pay big dividends for the taxpayers.
An analysis by the city shows last year was one of the better 12 months for sporting activity and economic benefits.
Parks and Civic Facilities Manager Jeff Putnam calls it positive news.
“Typically what we experience from the amount of time I have been working with the city is anywhere from as low of nine million to as high as 12 million, so 2017 was a really excellent year in terms of numbers of tournaments hosted and visits at 11.7 million.”
Putnam says icing on the cake would be Kamloops winning the bid to host the 2020 Memorial Cup.
