We havent heard much about an RCMP union this year.
The spokesman for the Mounted Police Professional Association, Rob Creasser of Kamloops says the matter is bogged down in the courts.
Creasser says the Public Service Labour Relations Board is facing legal action from a group in Quebec.
“There’s a group in Quebec that wants, right now the legislation reads there shall only be one collective bargaining agent for all RCMP members. Well, that doesn’t suit the needs of the people in Quebec, so they’ve challenged that piece of legislation. And we’re kind of caught up in that whole charter challenge process, and nothing is moving forward.”
The Mounted Police Professional Association lost its bid to represent RCMP officers across the country.
