Lightning continues to create havoc on the wildfire front.
Fire Information Officer Nicole Bonnett says on the heels of 16 new fire starts Tuesday…even more yesterday.
“We have 30 fires that started yesterday. That does not include the ones that would have started in the evening the day before that. We are sitting at 70 fires burning in the Kamloops Fire Centre right now. For a comparison this time last year we only had 16 fires that were currently burning in the Kamloops Fire Centre. So we definitely have seen quite a bit more lightning this fire season.”
Bonnett says while there are fires around Kamloops none of them are presenting a threat to this community or any other homes or structures.
She says the weather forecast continues to cause concern with more lightning and storm activity.
