A Kamloops businessperson concerned about potential increased crime near the affordable housing project to be located in the parking lot adjacent to Emerald House on Victoria Street.
Reid Hamer-Jackson who runs a car dealership across the street is worried about more problems than just the co-ed shelter.
Hamer-Jackson was talking to customers when someone threw a bar of soap at them
“We have had cars stolen. We have had several break ins. Needles all over the place. I mean, I had to shutdown my outside power off. They ripped it apart and they were charging their cells phones and I had customers afraid to come in at night cause there is a whole party. I even had to board up my down stairs because they kicked the steel doors so hard that they broke the framing.”
Hamer-Jackson says there must be a better location for the facility.
