A busy 24 hours for the B.C Wildfire Service in the Kamloops area.

“Overall we are still seeing a pretty active period of fire activity. we did see 32 new fires starts over the course of yesterday and that does include five new wildfires in the Kamloops Fire Centre.”
The B.C Wildfire Service says wildfires have chewed through 1,180 square kilometres of timber this year, far below the 10-year average.
But the 1,565 fires recorded so far is well above the average expected by this point in the season.
