Kamloops Council is taking one of the finals steps to prepare for the legalization of pot.
Development Services Director Marvin Kwiatkowski says, senior staff are looking a number of tweaks to current bylaws.
Kwiatkowski says the application fee is 1600 dollars and the annual business fee license fee is proposed to be five thousand dollar.
“The cities that we did deal with they are looking at five thousand dollars. We thought that was reasonable you look at of course Vancouver at 30 thousand dollars that would probably raise some eyebrows. But our fees need to cover the time for our staff whether it be my staff or bylaw staff.”
Kwiatkowski says they also want the correct wording in the bylaw to reflect what the B.C Government is proposing.
There could be as many as 15 to 20 private stores in Kamloops.
