
The Interior Health Authority reports more than 7000 people have used the two mobile safe consumption sites in the last year in Kamloops.
Health Services Administrator Rae Samson says there were 22 overdoses at the sites, but no deaths.
“We do also provide social work assessments on site. So that ability to talk with patients about treatment services, and to look at their needs holistically, so access into other services.”
In Kamloops, 79 per cent of the 111 deaths in the the last three years were men aged 19 to 59, and 71 per cent involved private residences.
