The Chief Medical Health Officer for the Interior Health Authority says safe consumption sites in Kamloops are working and he’s looking to the future.
Dr Trevor Corneil says a review of the two mobile sites in Kamloops have revealed challenges.
As for long term possibilities?
“I thing the goal ultimately would be to have a fixed site at those places where we know there is ongoing access and ongoing treatment and people showing up. If we are looking to expand supervised consumption services to other municipality, we will absolutely be doing that in consultation with the stakeholders.”
On another topic, Dr. Corneil says there are needles lying around in parks and on beaches in Kamloops and more must be done.
