Residents of Heffley Creek finally got their wish.
The official opening of the new bridge takes place today replacing the existing culvert that was damaged during the flooding in the spring of 2017.
Community Spokesperson Deb McDougall says the project cost was about 2.5 million dollars.
“Its a big deal for us. we have been one year three months and four days. 461 days without this bridge and what took me six minutes to get to the hall now took 15 minutes without that bridge. So we are really excited, its been a long time coming.”
Construction of the bridge was delayed due to the discovery of seven different archaeological sites were found.
