The BC Wildfire situation remains dire.
Fire Information Officer Ryan Turcott says the wildfire smoke layering some parts of the province has improved but not so much for the fire situation itself.
“The smoke has dissipated just a little bit in Kamloops however the fire situation across B.C. continues to be quite active as of this morning there are 562 wildfires burning across B.C. including 48 fires of note.”
The huge Shovel Lake wildfire in the fire riddled northwest part of the province is now measured at 68-thousand hectares in size.
“The situation in that neck of the woods is very active. We are seeing a lot of aggressive behaviour on a lot of these fires as well.”
Over the last 24 hours there there have been 24 new fire starts with most blamed on lightning.
