The Peterson Creek Multi Use Path in Kamloops won’t be finished until mid to late September.
Kamloops Utilities Engineer Liam Baker says the project is nearing completion with a majority of the difficult work already done.
Baker says workers encountered some problems, which pushed the price to 3.7 million dollars.
“They’ve encountered a fair amount of groundwater and instability below one of the retaining walls that we are building and of course and we can’t necessarily build a retaining wall without ensuring that’s its stable for the long term and so they have had to remove more material and bring in more suitable material in just to make sure that the path will be stable for the next 40 or 50 years.”
The 1.7-kilometre-long, three-metre-wide trail connecting Sahali at Glenfair, was due for completion by the end of the June.
It aims to get people downtown safer and quicker.
