Kamloops Fire and Rescue so far not planning on shutting down the city’s nature parks.
Fire Chief Mike Adams says they’ve been watching the weather very closely this summer.
“Thankful to say that the weather has cooperated with keeping the parks open throughout the summer, and we’re optimistic that as we go into the latter part of the summer that the weather will continue to cooperate, with the forecast looking for some cooler temperatures and rain later this weekend and into next.”
Adams adds, with the public being the eyes and ears of the fire service, it’s important to report any smoke or fires as soon as possible.
Nature parks were closed last year in Kamloops when the fire danger rating grew to “extreme”.
