Don’t hold your breath on the cleaner air sticking around in Kamloops.
B.C Environment Ministry Air Quality Specialist Ralph Adams says what’s happened is the wet weekend weather has brought down the smoke levels to near normal.
However, now the focus is on the Prince George area fires still at large.
“Those fires are still burning, and there is concern that over the next days, those fires will start to generate a significant amount of smoke again. And given the flows we have, very similar to last week, that smoke may come back. So right now the big question is, what are the stages of those fires, and will they start to generate lots of smoke?”
Adams says the situation could change rapidly, but so far, it appears Kamloops will have breathable air for at least a little while longer.
