Canada Games Aquatic Centre opening up a few days ahead of schedule in case the smoke rolls back into Kamloops.
Business Operations and Events Supervisor Sean Smith says the wildfire smoke shutting down Brock pool and the beach at Riverside Park actually sped things along for TCC maintenance.
“What that did was allow us to reallocate some of our staff resources to the maintenance shutdown here at the Canada Games Aquatic Centre. Which in turn, got the tasks done ahead of schedule, so that allowed us to open up, starting tomorrow, for the next four days.”
Smith adding, they’ll be keeping an eye on the smoke on a day to day basis to determine if outdoor facilities need to be closed again.
The pool at the TCC will be open from noon to 4pm starting tomorrow until Sunday. Then will re-open fully on Tuesday next week.
