Kamloops teens looking for mental health support now have a new avenue from the YMCA.
YMCA Kamloops Program Manager Jenna Nickle says due to popular demand with their two other mental health programs, the YMCA will now offer a third, the Teen Mindfulness Program.
“Our new program is one that’s for 13-18 year olds, and it is a little bit different in that it is art therapy based.”
Nickle says the 3 groups are open, and free of cost, to youth aged 13 – 30, and are held at various locations, including the John Todd Centre, and downtown YMCA
“We’ll run it three times per year, once in fall, once in January, and once in spring, so around April. And we will run them guaranteed, we have guaranteed funding until March 2020.”
The mental health programs offered are all supported by funding from the B.C Government.
