Its another example of the importance of international students to Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops.
Close to 3,200 students are expected to be enrolled once all the counting has been finalized.
“Very very important. I mean they make up a significant portion of the university.”
The Vice President of Finance Matt Milovick says there is a budgeted 52 million dollars in revenue from internationals this year, which is one quarter of the entire university’s annual budget.
“The university has a capacity. We are in the process of really trying to determine what is that sweet spot for international student numbers. Right now, to balance our budget we rely on 15 hundred international student enrolment.”
Milovick says the university is planning to do another study on the financial impacts of internationals students this fall.
