City of Kamloops looking for public input as they begin to put together the first ever Recreation Master Plan.
Recreation, Health and Wellness Supervisor Linda Stride says the city wants to know what the public would like to see added to facilities and programming to boost participation.
“We need everything. When we talk about recreation, we’re using that word broadly. And that would include everything from our Tournament Capital programs to looking at arts and culture programs.”
So far she says they’ve identified a few target areas.
“One, arenas. So we know that we have wait lists for more ice space. So that’s one that we know is there. We also know that our pool space, as it relates to leisure swimming, not competition.”
On top of that, she says they’re looking at potential to bring in lit artificial turf, and more gymnasium space for drop in activities.
The two open houses for info will be coming up October 1st at the Sandman Centre in the ValleyFirst lounge, and October 2nd at the MacArthur Island Sports Centre, both from 6-8 pm.
