There has been an increase in enrolment in the Kamloops School District this September.
Speaking on the Jim Harrison Show, Superintendent Alison Sidow says however, its not as large as first predicted.
“Its quite interesting it looks as actually as though we are up a little bit but not significantly like we have been in other years.”
The district had projected another 300 students but will likely only attract 200.
“So again we were projecting to be up a little bit, so you know we are probably going to come in at around 100 students more is what I am anticipating. But we are waiting for those final secondary numbers to come in and that will be the final tell.”
Sidow also pointed out a trend towards urbanization where people are moving to the bigger cities like Kamloops.
For example, the Westwold elementary school has no students this year.
