Getting a bite to eat while giving back, with tomorrow’s United Way “Local Love” Campaign Kickoff Breakfast.
United Way Thompson Nicola Cariboo’s Director of Marketing & Communications, Geralyn Alain says this year’s breakfast is all about community support to tackle un-ignorable, every day issues.
“Whether that’s homelessness, whether that’s children without food, whether that’s mental health and substance use issues. There are things that are happening on our streets and in our backyards that we really want to tackle, and that’s our plan with this campaign.”
Alain says the money raised will be invested into local non-profits covering a range of needs, including kids support programs, those living in poverty, and people suffering from mental health problems.
“So that basically means that we invest in about 18 different organizations, and over 25 different programs in the community that really work to build a resilient, strong place to live.”
The breakfast is held between 7 and 9 tomorrow morning at the Coast Hotel and Conference Centre, and tickets can be bought at the door.
