The Premier didn’t say yes but he didn’t say no either in response to a proportional representation debate challenge from the leader of the opposition.
John Horgan says he is not against the idea of an electoral reform debate, but he emphasized it perhaps should be discussed in another venue first.
“Well I’m going to see. I’m assuming I’ll see the leader of the opposition in the legislature next week. Unlike the previous government, we’re anxious to get into the legislature to debate the issues of the day. This will certainly be one that we’ll debate there. I’m not ruling out having a face to face debate with Mr. Wilkinson, I’m not at all concerned about that. I think the better place to start that debate however, is in the legislature.”
Horgan opened the door to debating Andrew Wilkinson some time after the civic election but added this all premature at this point.
Wilkinson issued the debate challenge two days ago.
