It sounds like LNG Canada might be close to making a final investment decision for an big facility near Kitimat.
Various media reports say it will be a yes from LNG Canada with an announcement as early as next week, but Premier John Horgan did not want to speculate.
“Every time I think of, all signs point to yes, I think of my magic 8 ball in middle school. We’ll have to see how that goes.”
If it is a yes it will pose a political problem as Green Party leader Andrew Weaver has said LNG is a red line for his party and its support of government.
Weaver says no way can the province reach its climate actions goals with LNG as we wait to see an action plan from the province.
“Minister Heyman is working on it right now, and we are going to be in the legislature next week. George’s plan is to get the full plan in front of the legislature before we rise in November.”
Horgan says a positive decision from LNG Canada will be an economic boon to B.C.
