A big drop in home sales in Kamloops last month.
The President of the Kamloops and District Real Estate Association Doren Quinton says there were 234 sales in September compared to 301 last year, a decline of 22.3%.
Quinton says while real estate sales have been running about 5-7% below near record levels, the September decline in 2018 has dropped year to date sales 9.2% below last year.
“Not uncommon. We did see that back in March I think it was of this year as well where we dipped we were back to solid numbers in April.”
However, sales prices have continued to move up, with an average home price of $399,445 this past month compared to $381,896 last year, an increase of 4.6%.
Sales by area was led by South Kamloops with 22 sales, followed by Aberdeen and Brocklehurst with 20 sales each.
