There is nothing stopping the booming Kamloops construction market.
During the first 9 months of this year, the value of building permits issued by City Hall hit 186 million dollars. That’s up from 142 million dollars during the same time period last year.
Housing construction accounted for 126 million of that total.
Building and Engineering Development Manager Jason Dixon says the situation in 2018 is different than last year, since there are more multi family units being built rather than single family dwellings.
“The big increases: apartment units. We’re over 48 million in apartment construction versus a little under 21 million dollars at this time last year.”
The number of single and multi-family units have jumped from 468 in 2017, to 675 in 2018.
