Interest in establishing pot dispensaries in Kamloops appears to be growing in advance of legalization in two weeks.
Mayor Ken Christian says there are already a number of applications.
“I think we have four or five applications pending right now and going through the process. So that will be the retail landscape going forward and some will succeed and others will fail.”
Christian says council will consider the application from the B.C government for the first cannabis store shortly before it opens.
“I believe the schedule is the provincial one on the 16th, and then on the 30th, there’s two private ones.”
Christian predicts the opening of the only government cannabis store on the 17th will be as non-event, predicting no line ups.
