The Kamloops Real Estate Association lobbying for changes to help the sector.
In Ottawa for a meeting of the Political Action Committee of the Canadian Real Estate Association Doren Quinton met with Kamloops MP Cathy McLeod to push the agenda.
He says its all about making housing more affordable.
“You know last year we talked about allowing parents to dip into their RRSP funds to assist in buying homes for their children. This year we are looking for an increase in home buyers tax credits that are available for first time home buyers. Looking for some answers and some openness on some of the B-20 rules which came into effect last year.”
Quinton says the B-20 rules refer to the toughening up of the requirements for first time home buyers to qualify for a mortgage.
