Well they’re late, but they’re comin’! The Adams River salmon situation is expected to pick up soon.
Event Manager for the Salute to the Salmon, Natalya Melnychuk says it’s hard to keep a set schedule for wild fish, but they are expecting more to make an appearance shortly.
“With Thanksgiving being a little bit earlier this year, we know that this week is typically the time when they peak, and we’re anticipating towards the end of this week that we’re going to see the full peak. And even over Thanksgiving we were seeing more and more coming in each day.”
Despite less fish at the moment, she says over Thanksgiving long weekend, they averaged about 8,000 visitors per day.
With this fourth year in the cycle being a dominant salmon run, millions of fish are expected to come through.
