A rookie Kamloops Councillor didn’t expect to win during Saturday’s civic election.
Speaking on NL Morning News, Dale Bass says her work at Kamloops This Week was a big factor in her victory.
“I went in there expecting to come in ninth and it started out really well,” she said. “Then I stopped looking and then all of a sudden my husband went “Oh you got it.””
“It was kind of fun. It was quite cool, but it was also kind of stunning. I kind of went numb.”
Bass was one of four newcomers elected to council for the next four years.
“I worked at the newspaper for 18 years,” added Bass. “I’ve been on maybe ten different boards. I know load of people and I have a good recognition factor.”
She finished with 9,059 votes, good for fifth place.
