Two potential sites have been identified as possible locations for an outdoor skating rink in Kamloops.
Parks and civic facilities manager Jeff Putnam says he visited Kelowna to get an idea on how much it costs to build and operate a rink.
Putnam confirms there is one location on the North Shore and one on the South Shore being considered, and confirms it’s not cheap to operate.
“Its also really understanding the operating costs. How the ice is to be cleaned, how often would it be cleaned, would be need a Zamboni, a stand alone Zamboni or could be use a Zamboni from an existing facility how that might work. So there’s actually a lot of logistics.”
Council and senior management will get a look at the final report later this year.
