It’s another indication that the City of Kamloops will shatter construction records in 2018.
According to numbers from city hall, year-to-date building permit values hit $210 million dollars compared to only $183 million last year.
Building and Engineering Development Manager Jason Dixon was predicting $250 million dollars which will eclipse last year’s watermark of $225 million, but there’s a chance we could hit $300 million.
“Oh, I feel pretty comfortable saying we will go over $250 million in construction this year,” Dixon said. “$300 million seems like a pretty lofty goal, but I wouldn’t anticipate us ticking past that one.”
There has been a total of 760 housing units started during the first 10 months of this year. That’s up from 537 last year.
