After several delays, the $3.7 million Peterson Creek Multi-Use Path officially opens in Kamloops today.
Utility Engineer Liam Baker the three meter wide, 1.7 kilometres paved multi-use route will provide walkers and cyclists with a safe and direct link between Sahali and downtown.
Baker says it wasn’t an easy construction job.
“Its always been planned to be a paved three-metre wide path. That idea has never changed and you know the locations for each end of it has never really changed,” Baker said. “It’s just how you get there right.”
“It’s a difficult topographic. There’s a creek next to it and there are steep slopes everywhere.”
Baker says the pathway will include lighting, signage, rest areas with benches, and other amenities.
