The Mayor of Kamloops says the city is preparing for upcoming contract talks with CUPE Local 900 representing more than 600 civic workers.
Ken Christian is suggesting that current pay increase trends are in the range of inflation.
Speaking on the Jim Harrison show this morning, Ken Christian says any pay hikes taxpayers offer will be moderate.
“I think what our Chief Financial Officer has done is prudent,” she said. “Our HR department has gone around and seen what the settlement range is within the industry.”
“They’ve put a number in there that’s going to be in and around two per cent or less. That number would be inclusive of any benefit increases as well.”
The current contract expires at the end of the year.
No dates have been set to start talks.
