The City of Kamloops is leading the way when it comes to approved cannabis stores.
City Council approved two more government stores at their meeting yesterday, November 20. That’s in addition to the one open government store, and two more approved private stores, that are yet to open.
While cannabis was legalized over a month ago, there are still several dispensaries operating illegally in Kamloops.
“There was originally 13 and at this point in time the last time I checked there was still three open,” said City Business Licence Inspector & Property Use Coordinator David Jones.
“You know at this time I have not been directed by senior management or council to move forward with any kind of enforcement. I think at some point in time the provincial task force will pay these folks a visit.”
Those two private store owners are waiting for final approval from the B.C. government before they can open their doors.
