A former Speaker of the BC Legislature from Kamloops says he’s never seen anything like it.
Claude Richmond was Speaker from 2001 to 2005 and was reacting to the suspension of Craig James, Clerk of the House, and Gary Len, the Sergeant-at-Arms.
He calls the action unprecedented.
“I just think its very odd that they should be marched unceremoniously out of their offices,” he said.
Richmond adds there are too many unanswered questions.
“These are public figures,” he noted. “It’s a motion passed in the house by all parties.”
“I think the public should have a right to be informed about what’s going on cause everyone is in the dark.”
The RCMP says they’re in the middle of an ongoing investigation of James and Lenz.
Two special prosecutors have also been appointed to the case.
