The Top Cop in Kamloops says maintaining enough officers on the road is a major challenge.
RCMP Superintendent Syd Leckie told city council that it be a pressure for the detachment.
However, at this point in the year, he says there is no major shortage of members.
“I can’t predict with any degree of accuracy what’s happening whether its parental leave or maternity or people who have injuries that are off duty and that sort of thing,” he said. “I can’t always predict what we are going to have in the future for incoming members.”
“But what I can say is I don’t have a shortage of members right now and I don’t have a shortage of members that want to come to Kamloops, so that’s a good thing for us.”
Kamloops has a complement of 130 officers.
