A very successful first weekend for the Operation Red Nose Campaign.
There were 188 rides total – 67 on Friday and 121 on Saturday – with over $4,000 in donations for PacificSport Interior BC.
Volunteer Coordinator Shannon Guglielmini says they had 88 volunteers in total.
“45 volunteers on Friday night, and 43 on Saturday night,” she said. “I think I heard from the last volunteer at like 5 o’clock in the morning.”
“They were out and about and we’re still getting donations because people didn’t have cash on hand when they got home so they want to call in and make a donation, which we really appreciate.
Kamloops led all BC communities for the most rides, and placed fifth across Canada as well, beating out places like Montreal, Saskatoon and Winnipeg.
Guglielmini says they’re still looking for more volunteers, especially on New Year’s Eve which is usually the busiest night of service.
The service will run again on December 6 from 8:00 PM to 2:00 AM, then Friday and Saturday from 8:00 PM to 3:00 AM.
