The Chief of the Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc First Nation would like the site of the former Ajax mine to be preserved.
Roseanne Casimir says it would be a logical next step after the proposed mine was rejected by the B.C. and the Federal Government.
“You know what I would like to see that one day being reclaimed as a national park,” she said. “We know that nationally that there are not many parks that are given that designation.”
“That is somewhere that we could all collectively enjoy peacefully and you know to go fishing, hiking, and biking you name it for all of us to enjoy.”
Casimir says its an issue that she intends to bring up at a future band council meeting.
