The Western Canada Theatre in Kamloops has a new best-selling production, as of this week.
“Elf the Musical” is now the best-attended show ever, in the theatre’s 43 year history.
The theatre’s artistic director James MacDonald says the audiences for the show have been of all ages.
“I think one of the reasons the show has so much appeal is partially because of the title. People know the movie, they go ‘I love that Christmas movie, that’s fantastic,'” MacDonald says.
“And to see it on stage, people are very pleasantly surprised when they come. They might expect the movie, but they get a much, much greater experience; it goes beyond that too.”
MacDonald says the previous best-seller was a Mary Poppins production from 2015.
Elf the Musical began on November 28th and runs until Wednesday.
