The Nicola Valley Search and Rescue team is back in operation after a major theft.
The search team was down more than $8,000 dollars in gear after their compound in Merritt was broken into a month ago.
He says search teams in Logan Lake, Princeton and Kamloops offered support immediately after the theft.
“We’ve been able to repurchase the first aid supplies that have been stolen. And then, together with neighboring SAR groups they’ve offered us the use of some of their gear if we need it,” search manager Nathan Brigden says.
“Between that and what we have left, we’d be able to respond to any calls right now.”
Brigden adds the search team has also been assured donations from businesses in Merritt. He says those funds would bring the search team back even from the amount lost in last month’s theft.
“It’s good to be recognized by businesses around, who recognize what we do for the community and have given back to us. We appreciate the support.”
