Three weeks into the Operation Red Nose campaign, Kamloops is still the top BC community for rides given.
There were 291 rides in total from Thursday to Saturday this past week, with 158 volunteers helping out.
Coordinator Shannon Guglielmini says volunteers drove over 5,000 kilometres this weekend.
“It’s like one person driving across Canada from Kamloops to Newfoundland,” she said. “It’s amazing.”
She adds the warm weather is having an impact on the program this year.
“It could be hurting us a little bit, in that people are looking to walk home if they live downtown,” added Guglielmini.
“But it’s definitely helping our volunteers to get around pretty easily, so hopefully it’s helping us.”
Operation Red Nose Kamloops is up to 743 rides this season, with over $7,400 raised right now for PacificSport Interior BC.
Out of 100 communities across Canada, Kamloops has the tenth most rides so far this year.
