It was the largest crowd in years for the CP Holiday Train last night in Kamloops
Kamloops Food Bank Executive Director Bernadette Siracky says over 2,000 showed up to greet the train, a crowd the CP people told her was the largest in the western leg of the trip so far.
And with that record crowd, she was asked if we expect a record amount of donated food.
“I am going to assume that we are going to have at least 4,000 pounds of food, which is stunning,” she said. “But we are going to have just over $50,000 as well and maybe even more.”
“You know what this community shows up to help us do what we do and we are entirely grateful and it was so much fun. The energy here was just brilliant.”
Siracky says all the donated food and money at the CP Holiday Train event will ensure that people who need help will be fed this holiday season and into the New Year.
The Kamloops Food Bank will announce their final numbers later today.
