The Kamloops Chamber of Commerce says it is working to help contractors who are wrongly double-paying PST.

Chamber president Joshua Knaak says the issue has affected businesses in Kamloops since the province did away with the HST in 2013.

Knaak says in the current situation, many contractors remit PST to the province directly but also have to refund customers for that tax.

“It’s well over a million dollars that we are aware just in this community. It is an issue seemingly across the province,” he says.

Knaak says the Kamloops Chamber has worked with current MLAs to address the PST issue.
