Gas prices in Kamloops and B.C. are expected to remain low to start 2019, however those prices likely won’t last.
Speaking on the Jim Harrison Show today, senior analyst for GasBuddy.com Dan McTeague says for January, and possibly February, gas prices should stay where they are now.
“I think by March, we’re gunna start to see things turn around in terms of prices,” McTeague says. “And we could see prices resume their trajectory that we saw during the summer and leading up to the summer period last year.
“We don’t think it’s going to be as expensive in 2019 as it was in 2018, but it won’t be far off. When you measure all of the factors, including government tax increases across the country.”
McTeague says the cost of fuel is about $1.20 in B.C. right now, and he expects that will rise 15 to 20 cents by the spring.
Gas prices in Kamloops are nearly the cheapest in the province meanwhile, at around $1.08 per litre, according to GasBuddy.com.
The cheapest gas in the Tournament Capital is at Costco at $103.9 per litre, which is only slightly above the cheapest price in B.C. of $102.4, at a gas station in Fernie.
