The MLA for Kamloops South is looking ahead to this new year and topping his priority list is lobbying for some capital investment in the Kamloops Thompson School District.

Todd Stone says he wants to see the province make an official announcement on a major upgrade to Valleyview Secondary.

“It is now time for those kinds of investments to be made in our school system here. We have all of our secondary schools bursting at the seams. We are in desperate need of a new elementary school in Pineview Valley and an expansion at Westmount.”

Stone says Kamloops has been missing in action among a flurry of new school announcements made around the province by the NDP government.

Education minister Rob Fleming recently told NL he will have something major to announce this year in Kamloops.
